The flue gas contains a large amount of acid gas, after a large number of data and experiments, only sodium bicarbonate (baking soda, NaHCO3) is small to a certain extent, its ability to produce the most efficient reaction with the acidic components in the flue gas. It removes acid pollutants from flue gas by chemisorption, and also removes some inorganic and organic trace substances by physical adsorption. At high temperatures, sodium bicarbonate decomposes to form sodium carbonate Na2CO3, H2O, and CO2.


Generally, the flue gas temperature is between 140 and 250 °C, and due to the high activity of the sodium bicarbonate adsorbent, a slightly excess sodium bicarbonate (stoichiometric factor between 1.1 and 1.3) is usually sufficient.
